Tadoba is a brand for Tiger reserve. Said that it’s one of the oldest and largest national parks of India, situated in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. To mention, Taadoba is not just famous for Tigers but also popular for diversified flora and fauna. Tadoba reserve is primarily a southern tropical dry deciduous forest, eighty-seven percent of which is covered with dense woodlands. Apart from the Bengal tiger the main species, Tadoba is the residence of other mammals like Indian leopards, sloth bears, gaur, nilgal, dhole, striped hyena. Endangered reptiles like the Indian python and Bengal monitor are also seen in Tadoba. Around 195 species of birds involve three endangered species and say about raptors, grey-headed fish eagle, the crested serpent eagle, and the changeable hawk-eagle are the raptors that live in the park. So to speak Tadoba is the real paradise and a right to visit if you are a nature lover and wildlife enthusiast. No doubt, Tiger sightings at the Andhari tiger reserve leaves the tourist delighted beyond one’s imagination but there are other initiatives that are started to add to the tourist attractions in Tadoba, One new addition is the Butterfly garden in Tadoba. Butter garden is an approach to create, improve and maintain adobe for lepidopterans, lepidopterans are the succession of butterflies, skippers, and moths. The butterfly goes through 4 different life stages: egg, larva, Chrysalis and adult. Ideally, a butterfly garden has the adobe for each life stage of the butterfly, and this is to assist and conserve butterflies populations. Butterfly garden imparts a recreational activity to watch colorful butterflies interacting with nature.

Butterfly garden in Tadoba is a real butterfly world spread across five acres of land at the Agarzari village on Chandrapur- Moharli Road. It is located in the buffer zone of the reserve, butterfly world is attracting tourists who primarily enjoy wildlife safari in the buffer zone. During the weekend and national holidays, a pretty good number of people can be seen with their kids who enjoy watching beautiful butterflies in the butterfly garden.

The butterfly garden is an open-air meadow that has food plants to attract butterflies. The butterfly world is surrounded by the dense forest, which is an addon to entice the flying scaly wings. Butterflies of Tadoba have found their new home in this garden, about 80 species of butterflies have already gathered in this butterfly garden. Known as the “state butterfly” of Maharashtra is also seen in the butterfly garden of Tadoba.

 

Sudhir Mungantiwar is the main initiator of this beautiful garden and he inaugurated the butterfly world on February 10th. The motto behind this project is to educate the tourists about butterflies and the importance of each and every species in the ecosystem, protect the biodiversity of the place, and conduct research on the butterflies which are known as valuable environmental indicators. On top of all these, this conservation project aims at providing a livelihood for the locals.

A resource center is there right at the park entrance in order to provide significant information to the visitors. To make it more interesting to the visitors the butterfly life cycle comprising egg, larva, pupa, and adult is shown through photographs. Besides this display boards are placed to provide information about the diverse species of butterflies. A glasshouse is also there in the garden to help the visitors watch the butterflies up close proximity.

Hanging bridges, butterfly-shaped fountains, playing areas for kids, cafeteria, local souvenir shops, and all other facilities required to make the visit a great experience are there in the butterfly world. As mentioned earlier this conversation projection aims at supporting livelihood for youth, this park is run by the local youth. The Forest department is providing job prospects to the local youths through ecotourism and other facilities under “ Dr. Shyamprasad Mukherjee Jan Van Yojana

The butterfly garden is not a tourist attraction, it is also encouraging villagers to take initiative in forest and wildlife conservation. The aim of this project is very similar to our resort in Tadoba because the top priority of our red earth resort in Tadoba is to keep the environment first and we follow the ethos of responsible tourism and as a result, most of our staff are from local tribal communities called Gond tribes. Distinct species of fruit plants and trees are there in the resort to ensure the abundance of birds and butterflies.
