Ankola is a town municipal council and taluka in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. The name of the place is derived from a forest shrub Ankola grown on the coastal hillside and worshipped by the Halakki Vokkaligas as a totem. The town is situated about thirty-three kilometers from Karwar and about fifty-seven kilometers from Bhatkal. Ankola is a small town surrounded by paddy fields, schools, temples, and mango groves. It is located on the coast of the Arabian sea and has natural beaches. Ankola is also famous for its native breed of Mangoes called the Kari Ishad as well as its tasty cashew nuts. A quaint town indeed that you can visit when staying at our resort in Gokarna!
Amazing tourist destinations to visit in Ankola –
Mahamaya temple – This beautiful temple was built in the sixteenth century and is one of the most important temples in the city of Ankola. The temple is beside national highway seventeen. The temple holds the deities of Shri Mahamayi, Shri Laxmi Narayana, along with the idols of Lord Ganesha, Eshwara, and Parvathi. During Mahanavami and Vijaya Dashami, special worship and celebrations are held.

Aryadurga temple – Shri Arya Durga temple in the coastal town of Ankola was established over three hundred years ago by a saint and the temple has his samadhi in front of it. The temple was renovated recently.

Vibhuti Falls – Vibhuti Falls is a small waterfall near Yana, about fifty kilometers from the Western Ghats. The falls got its name from the limestone rocks nearby. Vibhuti Falls is a mere hour’s drive from our resort in Gokarna taking you through evergreen forests and winding, romantic roads.

Honey Beach – Honey beach as the name indicates, derives itself from the word ‘honey’. The beach is pristine and there are hillocks on one side of the beach and the fathomless ocean along the rocks and sand from where you can hear the roaring sea. The best time to visit Honey Beach is between August to March. Honey beach is an isolated beach located just below our resort in Gokarna.

Nadibhag beach – A small river Nadibhag reaches the bay with roaring river currents and sway of cool wind surrounds the beach due to this phenomenon. Visitors are mostly comfortable visiting Nadibhag beach between August to March.
