Ingredients

1 inch of finely chopped ginger is needed for the fish curry.

4 garlic cloves, chopped finely

1 onion, chopped finely

2 tomatoes, chopped finely

50 ml of coconut milk

Tamarind water, 1/4 cup

1 bunch of curry leaves

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

one tablespoon of mustard oil

Salt, as desired

For marinating

2 King fish, flattened into fillets

1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes

1/8 teaspoon of powdered turmeric (Haldi)

One tablespoon of cumin powder (Jeera)

Coriander powder, 1 teaspoon (Dhania)

Lemon juice, one

Salt, as desired

For the Malvani Masala

Coriander (Dhania) Seeds, 1 teaspoon

a half-teaspoon of cumin seeds (Jeera)

Fennel seeds, 1 teaspoon (Saunf)

Cinnamon stick, 1 inch (Dalchini)

Two cloves (Laung)

Bay leaf one (tej patta)

1 dash of nutmeg

Whole Black Peppercorns, 1/2 teaspoon

Four dried red peppers

Star anise, one

Malvani Fish Curry: A Delicious And Spicy Fish Curry Recipe

To start preparing the Malvani Fish Curry Recipe, we must first thoroughly wash and then totally drain the king fish. Red chilli powder, turmeric, cumin, coriander, salt to taste, and lemon juice should also be added. Mix everything together, then marinate the fish for at least 30 minutes.

To make Malvani masala

Dry roast the coriander, cumin, fennel, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf, star anise, and black peppercorns in a hot pot for at least 5 minutes, or until they are thoroughly toasted.

Once finished, combine all the roasted spices with the dried red pepper flakes, nutmeg, and crush to a fine Malvani masala powder.

Preparing the Fish Curry

In a hot kadai, add some mustard oil and let the mustard seeds sputter for a short while. Include curry leaves.

After letting it start to crackle, add the chopped ginger, garlic, and onions, and continue to sauté until the onions are tender and golden brown.

When the tomatoes start to become little mushy, add the diced tomatoes, salt, and turmeric.

Additionally, sprinkle the freshly made Malvani masala, and cook for a minute. Add 1/2 cup of tamarind water, and boil the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes with the tomatoes and masala.

Add coconut milk and simmer the flame before bringing it to a boil. If there is any extra marinated masala in the bowl, you can add that as well. Slowly stir the marinated fish pieces into the simmering stew.

The Malvani Fish Curry can be made by adding a little water, adjusting the consistency, and adding salt to taste.

Lightly whisk the Malvani Fish Curry. The Malvani fish curry should be simmered for at least 10 minutes or until the fish is thoroughly cooked.

Turn off the heat after the Malvani Fish Curry is finished cooking. Adjust the spices and salt as necessary. Serve the Malvani Fish Curry hot after being transferred to a serving bowl.
