Ranjini visited Kabini, a part of the Nagarhole National Park on her first trip after the restrictions were lifted and stayed at Red Earth, our resort in Kabini. The drive to Kabini as she mentions was an out-of-the-world experience as she could spot wild animals on the way. The resort is adjacent to the Kabini dam has an aesthetic look as it blends with nature and the stay as described by her is outstanding.

The best part of the resort according to her is that most of the employees in the facility belong to the local community and their culture is showcased in the form of activities organized for the entertainment of guests. “One gets the opportunity to understand nature while staying at ‘Red Earth Resort’ ” says Ranjini.

Red Earth Kabini Review by Ranjini Haridas:

Kabini Back water

Located on the edge of the Nagarhole National Park with backwaters of the Kabini on the three sides making it a peninsula river. The river provides water even during the driest months and as the water seeps in Summer grass sprouts in areas where the water has receded making it a green oasis in otherwise dry surroundings.

Kabini is home to abundant biodiversity that lies on the fringes of the National Park, itself home to nearly 250 species of birds, 40-50 species of mammals, countless insects, arachnids, etc. Of course, Kabini and Nagarhole are tiger land as well. One can often see huge herds of elephants sometimes numbering over 50 and Gaur, herds of deer, birds, and even predators like the tiger and leopard quenching their thirsts. Kabini is also home to the black panther.
