Intro
Days are getting longer and the afternoons are getting toastier around our wildlife lodge in Tadoba. But the good news is that Red Earth Resort Tadoba is usually best visited in the summer if you’re a wildlife nut for a lot of reasons! Read on to find out why the best time to visit Tadoba is actually in the summer.
Why summer
The harsh heat has its purposes in making your Tadoba trip memorable; the trees, shrubs and long grass turn from a vibrant green to a golden brown, revealing all the life that hides within them. Wildlife typically hides itself well when the vegetation is dense; the long grasses are no longer intrusive in the summer and the trees lose most of their growth!
Watering Holes
Thanks to this heat, animals prefer to head to the artificial watering holes set up by the forest department and usually stick around even with human movement. Tigers in particular are extremely fond of water, unlike other big cats. You will see these felines playing around, drinking to their thirst and simply laying down in the water. Our wildlife lodge in Tadoba in fact is not very far away from a few watering holes at the Zari and Kholsa sides of Tadoba! Apart from tigers you’ll see a host of deer, wild boar, small mammals coming to these watering holes to drink their fill. Even birds can be seen dipping into the water every now and then.
What time?
March and April are great times specifically for wildlife watching. Days start early though; your safari starts at 6:00 AM to avoid the harshness of the sun. You’ll have to book your safari well in advance in order to get good seats, or you can alternatively let our wildlife lodge in Tadoba help you with the booking and ensure a stress free vacation. You can opt for a half day or full day safari. The half day safaris start at 6:00 and go on until 10:00 AM while the full day safaris are extended from 2:30 till 6:30 PM. Choose a safari at Zari gate where the isolation gives you the perfect advantage to spot wildlife out in the open!
In the mornings, you’ll be greeted by the chirping of Avadavats, the plaintive Shrike and Bee Eaters starting the day along with you by claiming their territory even as you step out of our wildlife lodge in Tadoba. Summer mornings mean more golden hours for you to photograph these beauties in comfort. You’ll spend more time waiting at watering holes in summers as opposed to moving around because water is where the animals will come to! This is more true especially as the day gets hotter.
Post your morning safari, you can come back to our wildlife lodge in Tadoba and laze about in your own private wade pool or our infinity pool with a refreshing juice in hand. After a hearty lunch and once the weather cools down a little, you can hop back into the canter for your evening safari. Hopefully this time you come across Madhuri or Maya or even Gabbar, a few of the famed tigers of Tadoba.
What To Pack
Pack light when visiting our wildlife lodge in Tadoba! Light clothes, light equipment. Dull colored cotton clothes are best, they let you breathe easy while still not disrupting the forest colors and ensuring that animals do not get hindered. Also pack sunscreen and plenty of water when on your safari in Tadoba; remember to keep hydrating both yourself and your skin!
