This summer, one of our guests had the chance to experience Red Earth Gokarna Resort\u2019s unmatched Konkan experience and hospitality. Read all about Abhishek\u2019s experience at our resort in Gokarna!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Having never explored the Konkan coast\u2019s intricacies before, 3 of us decided to have a little road trip that led up to Red Earth Gokarna. We drove through the night, thinking we\u2019d reach in time for the sunrise at the beach. Through relaxed highways and then fast winding roads we drove till we reached an even smaller road that was slowly but surely taking us closer to the Arabian Sea. The sun was starting to show up by now so we could catch a glimpse of people waking up and starting to go about their day as well, carrying fishing lines and nets with them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eventually, we reached the town of Gokarna where we finally got our first glimpse of the Arabian Sea when we went to Gokarna beach! The sun was behind us now and it brightened up the entire sea. After spending a few idyllic moments at Gokarna Beach, we also walked along the promenade and then set off to find our resort in Gokarna. But before that, we also walked among the markets at Gokarna town, where the Halakki Gowda women were selling their wares for the day. Amongst the many interesting fruits and vegetables, we saw a unique variety of chili, some kokum, and raw jackfruit that was to be used in curries!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The landscape truly had a rural feel to it as slowly our network vanished and Urbania ceased to exist. The heat also started kicking in, forcing us to put the pedal to the metal which only made things more fun on these roads! Finally, we reached a gate where the only sign was \u201cPlease be quiet: Meditation in progress\u201d and we knew then that we reached our resort in Gokarna<\/a>!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After a quick and seamless check-in process with the help of the highly courteous staff, we sat down for a sumptuous breakfast prepared to order based on the day\u2019s menu. The first thing you notice about Red Earth Gokarna is quiet. There are meditation halls and yoga studios and the only interloper here is the occasional bird, whose sweet calls can hardly be considered a disturbance. Our rooms were spacious and extremely comfortable and also had a separate space for practicing yoga. The air conditioning meant we were saved from the humidity at Gokarna!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout our stay, the primary motive for us was to rejuvenate and take a break from the mundanity of the city. And this resort in Gokarna proved to be the perfect destination for it. Each day, watching the sunset over their isolated beach was a real treat. We got to drive around these quaint fishing villages where the people were inquisitive, kind, and hospitable. We also got to try some new coastal food that we\u2019d never encountered in cities before, with catch straight from the sea. Red Earth Gokarna is also a center of wellness and so we were taught a few insights by Ashima, the resident yoga teacher. She taught us many techniques for relaxation and meditation that could help us significantly when facing the crunch at work!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The highlight of the trip was a trek from our resort in Gokarna to a fishing village around 2km away. We traipsed through mud paths and scrub forest until we reached a sunset point where we admired the sun slowly setting off for the day, then we started descending until we arrived at another pristine beach on the other side of our resort in Gokarna. And my personal highlight was the sighting of several birds during the trek and to round it off, a species of snake called a Whitaker\u2019s Boa. This is found exclusively in the Western Ghats and we were delighted to find it resting right on the path we were walking on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We finally left after 3 days of staying at Red Earth Gokarna, aching to come back soon. The fond memories of our stay at this resort in Gokarna will stay with us forever!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
