Karnataka has an open forest that offers an experience for the visitors like nowhere else. Along the route is the Kabini forest reserve which is noted for its rich wildlife. Located 80 km from Mysuru and 205 km from Bengaluru, Kabini is also very close to Kerala, merely 27 km from Wayanad. A part of the Nagarhole national park has the thickest forest area of Kabini which covers a land of 55 acres. A number of interesting sights can be witnessed including the forest and the Beechanahalli Dam<\/a>. Drive through the beautiful route and relax at Red Earth, our resort in Kabini.<\/p>\n

Beechanahalli Dam built on the river Kabini is a vast, serene, and beautiful place on the Gundalpet-Kabini route. The dam is 696 meters in length and was built in 1974. The catchment area of the dam is 2,141.90 km. The dam is spread over an area of 55 hectares covering forests, rivers, lakes, and valleys. Kabini reservoir is at the border of Kerala and Karnataka. The backwaters of the Kabini reservoir are very rich in wildlife and something to be not missed.<\/p>\n

The visual sight of a animals strolling around the forest, the changing colors in the skies and the birds flying back to their nests in synchronized movements is dreamlike.<\/p>\n

Kabini BackWater ViewPoint, which is just 20km from Red Earth, our resort in Kabini, is where one can see the relaxing backdrop of mountains and the animals walking in the forest. As the sun sets and the shades of the sky turns orange, the visual sight of birds flying makes it feel like a painting. The birds sitting and chirping on the branches of submerged trees is delightful sight to behold.<\/p>\n

You can book a bus safari at a place called Antharasanthe at the office of the Forest Department there and the safari would take you to the banks of the Kabini reservoir. You can make either a mini-bus or jeep Kabini safari booking to reach the heart of the forest, and take a look at the wilderness from up close. You get an opportunity to watch a herd of elephants cross the river, or spot a tiger in the bushes. The boat safari and the jungle safari take you to the depth of the jungle and let you sink in the beauty that has been kept sacred untouched by humans. The safari would be an extremely thrilling and adventurous endeavor for you if are traveling on this route. The tickets can be booked online or offline.<\/p>\n

You can stop at any local food joint to taste the amazing local food. The region has completely different flavour which would not have been encountered by you if you are travelling on this route first time. There is also a separate range of sweets that belong to this region.<\/p>\n

Have your own DDLJ moment in the sunflower or marigold field of Gundalpet. Known as the Flower Pot of Karnataka, the place has lush farms consisting of thousands of flowers and provides a perfect spot for photographers to click amazing pictures. The blue skies, yellow and orange painted fields, and sprinkles of greenery in Gundlupet are truly heaven on earth. witness a sea of yellow sunflowers and orange marigolds blossoming on either side of the road with the picturesque green hills in the backdrop. You can take permission from the farmers and get your photoshoot done.<\/p>\n

If you are traveling from Kerala, visit Mananthavady. Pazhassi Kudeeram is a botanical garden on the top of the hill in Mananthavady. And there is a tomb is inside a botanical garden that has the mortal remains of the famous Pazhayangadi Raja.<\/p>\n

Another place in the route is Kuruvadweep or Kuruva Island which is a 950-acre protected river delta. It comprises dense forest and uninhabited islands and a few submergible satellite islands, which lie on the banks of the tributaries of Kabini River in the Wayanad district, Kerala, India. It is an uninhabited island, which is home to rare species of flora, fauna, and avifauna.<\/p>\n

After enjoying the forests scenes there, travel along the Hunsur-Gundlupet route where chances of spotting wildlife sightings are high.<\/p>\n
